dermaplaning
DERMAPLANING
Dermaplaning is a controlled method that uses manual exfoliation or “scrapping” of the skin’s outer layer using a specialized blade that removes keratinized cells as well as fine bellows hair, aka “peach fuzz.”
DERMAPLANING STARTS AT $75
How Does it Work?
The skin is cleansed with a gentle cleanser that is safe for all skin types. From there the skin is prepped using products that are tailored to your needs. These products allow a more comfortable and safe experience, even gliding to the skin’s surface, and removing “leftover” debris that was not otherwise removed during treatment.
Products Used:
Dermaplane Pro, SkinMedica, Hale and Hush
Benefits of Dermaplaning:
No downtime + immediate results
Create a healthier, more radiant appearance
Skincare products penetrate the skin even better + are more effective
Diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Can be combined with other treatments when done on the same day
COMMON QUESTIONS:
How long does it take to see results?
Clients will see immediate results after just one dermaplaning facial. For best results, clients should return every 3-4 weeks.
How long does a treatment take?
The standard Dermaplane facial can take up to 30 minutes.
Will my facial hair grow back darker and thicker?
The answer is easy, no! If you’ve never been Dermaplaned your “peach fuzz” grows back the exact same as it was prior to removal. It may feel more “blunt” after the first treatment because the hair has not been removed before and is a new/different feeling.
Who can be treated?
All skin types benefit from dermaplaning! Men can also be Dermaplaned on non-beard areas only.
Who cannot be treated?
Clients with active acne breakouts should not be treated until the lesions are healed.
Clients with bleeding disorders or difficulty clotting.
Higher dosages or frequency use of Aspirin.
Those that have uncontrolled diabetes
Those undergoing treatments for cancer. Upon completion of cancer treatments, must get approval from a physician.
Clients with active cold sores. Those with active cold sores will be rescheduled, and if prone to cold sores clients should pre-medicate 24 hours prior to treatment.
Darker skin-toned clients should peel their skin 2-3 weeks prior to treatment using melanin-suppressing home care products and sunscreen.
Accutane or isotretinoin: Ok after 12 months of non-use and physician approval.
Additional skin care modalities that can be done the same day or otherwise contraindicated:
Botox or fillers: Wait 1 week after injectables. It is ok to Dermaplane on the same day when done prior. Dermaplaning after injections can move products leaving clients with undesirable results.
Retin-A: Clients should stop using 5 days per and post-treatment.
Chemical Peel: Dermaplaning can be done prior to a chemical peel. Post peel, wait 14+ days depending upon strength and depth of peel and condition of the skin.
Diamond Glow: Dermaplaning can be done prior to the Diamond Glow facial.
